Submission Form : In the Garage

Weezer’s Record of Our Heart

                       SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 10.31.2025

What is 'In the Garage'?

A fan-led, fan-made love-letter-- not to the band, but to each other.

Stories, experiences, fan art, photos, tattoos, memorabilia, (sweaters; lots of sweaters) and collections. Our fandom, packed into a 30-year retrospective to celebrate a kind, genuine, often quirky garage of misfits.

Each time we attend a concert or a meet-up, join a fan space, at least one person shares something meaningful we've neve heard before. They show us something we've never seen before, that gets us excited all over again to be here. How many of these objects and experiences are out there waiting to be shared?

You tell us.

Who?

We’re a ragtag neighborhood of Weezer fans — spanning generations, cities, countries, and yes, opinions about Raditude. Artists, authors, graphic designers, programmers, musicians, students, doctors - we strive to represent the diversity of our Weezer community.

What our community means to you. How you celebrate it. How it saved you or subtly changed your life. Made you laugh or helped you cry. We're looking for your Weezer-related stories, short and long. Art, photos, comics, tattoos, collections, symbols of devotion to the fandom. This project is for us — the fans who discovered belonging vs fitting in, in the garage. Where we feel safe.

Ultimately, our collection will be formatted and printed in honor of the original fan club Weezines and messages sent out by Mykel and Carli, and in the spirit of Alec Longstreth's 'Weezer Fan'.

Follow along here as the project unfolds, and feel free to share ideas that make this a true expression of our community.

Let’s make something as quirky, heartfelt, and unforgettable as the music that brought us together.

If You Need Us, We'll Be in the Garage

Picture it: You’re fifteen. Minding your business, in  analog , because there’s  no internet.  You have all the time in the world to be literally just a girl. Wander the mall with Jenny and Stephanie. Doodle in your radioactive-toned Lisa Frank diary where you fantasized about a boyfriend like Jack Skellington: bony, with a delicate jawline and a swoon-worthy singing voice and a heart-wrenching sense of romance and vulnerability (like someone else we’re about to encounter). You ugly-cry when your Tamagachi dies because Brandon from science class has started calling after school- on a  landline , and distracts you. You sing ‘ Dreamlover ’ into your Talkboy (it was like a smartphone if you only installed a voice app). Then: BAM.  The Blue Album  just happens to you. Only one week of freshman year left to survive, and now this? Did not ask for a pseudo-grunge revelation. Did not ask to be the imagined object of desire of  four  future husbands...

In the Garage - What's It All About ?

In the Garage: 30 Years of a Good Thing  If you're interested in doing more than submitting for the fan retrospective, here's a quick run-down of our original vision for the project: Fan-Focused, band-adjacent A physical, printed compilation Multi-faceted: Essays, stories, reviews, memorabilia, photos, favorite concerts, meaningful fellow-fan interactions, crafts, tattoos, sweaters, collections (possibly even songs linked by QR code). Moments we've shared, and things we've been inspired to make and share with one another, or just some thoughts about our community put on paper and sent to the Weezerverse. ( SUBMISSIONS CLOSE 10.31.2025)    OG supported: Interviews or contributions from folks like Jason, Lisa, Karl. A special in memorium for Mykel and Carli seems fitting.  Below is one of the original pitches we threw out when this first came together:    Fan Retrospect Letter & Sign-Up Here
